Recommendations

Summary: Add tags to both the playlist and learning experiences to make recommendations appear in playlists. They will be ordered based on ratings.

Recommendations are learning experiences related to a playlist but not directly assigned to it.

When a learner clicks VIEW ALL on a playlist they will be taken to a page where they'll also see any recommendations. They are sorted into learning experience types, e.g. Videos, Reading, etc.

The way the learning platform orders recommendations is based on two things: freshness and score.

Freshness

The freshness is based on the time when it was first rated or the most recent time it was tagged.

The scale is:

  • Fresh - tagged or rated within the last 10 days

  • New - tagged or rated between the last 10 - 30 days

  • Old - tagged or rated between the last 30 - 60 days

  • Stale - tagged or rated between the last 60 - 100 days and so on

This order will show left to right, with the freshest item being the furthest left.

If you want a recommendation to go to the front, you will just need to re-tag it. But if there are items in the playlist that have been rated in the last 10 days, these will go first as they will have a higher score.

Within each level of the freshness scale, the learning experiences are ordered by score.

Score

Learners can rate learning experiences on the dashboard:

For every  the score will increase by one. For every  , the score will decrease by 1. The starting score is 50. The score has no upper limit but can only decrease to 0.
