Send Slack message

Prerequisites: This workflow item is only available via consultation with your account manager. Please talk to your account manager if you would like to have this activated for your organisation. For this workflow item to work, you need to create a bot that has the permission to post in public channels in Slack. You'll need to supply GS Learning support with the bot's endpoint.

Send Slack message sends a message from a Slack bot to a public Slack channel or an individual user.

  • Slack email - The email address associated with the learner's Slack account. Ideally this will be the same email address associated with the user's LXP account or LRS persona.
  • Channel - To post to a public channel, right click on the channel, select View channel details and scroll down to find the Channel ID. Slack_message_12.gif

Tip: variables can be used throughout both text and blocks.

Text Text can be formatted using markdown and can include emojis. Click here to read more about markdown. If you're using blocks, the Text field will only display in the message notification. To include the text in the body of the message too, it needs to be included in the blocks.
